Beyond the food, the Everett Marina serves as the ideal meeting ground. It’s professional enough for a business lunch, casual enough for a post-marina walk refueling, and welcoming enough for families (dogs are allowed out on the patio). With the combination of award-winning kitchens, historic sourdough traditions, and panoramic views of the water, it’s clear why the marina has claimed its stake as the best lunch destination in the area.

At Sound2Summit, we’ve always believed you shouldn’t have to sacrifice flavor for fitness. To prove it, we recently sent our Boat Beer to the IEH Institute in Greeley, Colorado, for a comprehensive nutritional breakdown. The lab results are in, and they are a game-changer for craft beer lovers.

While many "light" beers compromise on body and taste to hit these numbers, Boat Beer remains a heavyweight in the awards circuit. It is the proud winner of the Washington Gold Medal in both 2024 and 2025 in the Lite American Lager category. This back-to-back recognition confirms what our fans already know: it is a full-flavor, crisp, and refreshing lager that stands up to the best in the state.

Embrace Autumn: Fall Beers, Festive Taps, and Community Fun in Snohomish

The bodAs the crisp scent of fallen leaves replaces the lingering warmth of summer, a delightful transformation sweeps across Snohomish. The vibrant greens give way to a breathtaking tapestry of reds, oranges, and golds, signaling the arrival of autumn – a season synonymous with cozy sweaters, crackling fires, and, of course, the rich, comforting flavors of fall beers. Here at Sound2Summit Brewery, we believe that fall is more than just a season; it's an experience, and we've brewed up the perfect companions to help you savor every moment.

There's an undeniable magic to fall in Snohomish. The air takes on a refreshing bite, perfect for exploring the historic downtown, wandering through pumpkin patches at local farms like Craven Farm or Bailey's, or simply taking a scenic drive along the Snohomish River. The bustling energy of summer gives way to a more relaxed pace, inviting reflection and connection. And what better way to enhance these cherished moments than with a meticulously crafted fall beer in hand?

At Sound2Summit, our brewing philosophy is deeply intertwined with the seasons. As summer's light and refreshing Kölsches and IPAs begin to fade, our brewers pivot to heartier, more complex profiles that capture the essence of autumn. This year, we're particularly excited about our lineup, featuring returning favorites and perhaps a new surprise or two designed to perfectly complement the changing landscape.

Beyond the IPA: Innovation in the World of Craft Beer

The craft beer scene is constantly evolving, pushing boundaries and defying expectations. Gone are the days of simply choosing between pale ale and stout. Today, brewers are experimenting with unique ingredients, exploring new brewing techniques, and creating truly innovative and exciting beers.

           1. Pushing Flavor Boundaries:

            Wild Fermentation:

Sour beers, farmhouse ales, and other wild-fermented styles are gaining popularity. Brewers are utilizing spontaneous fermentation, capturing native yeasts and bacteria to create complex and unique flavor profiles.

            Ingredient Exploration:

From incorporating local honey and fruits to using unusual spices like cardamom and saffron, brewers are constantly searching for new flavor combinations.

            Non-Traditional Grains:

Beyond the standard barley and wheat, brewers are experimenting with grains like rye, oats, and even corn to create unique textures and flavors.

           2. Brewing Techniques:

            Barrel Aging:

Aging beer in whiskey barrels, wine barrels, and even rum barrels imparts complex flavors and adds depth to the finished product.

            Cold Hopping:

Adding hops to the beer after fermentation allows for intense hop aroma and flavor without excessive bitterness.

            Mixed Fermentation:

Combining different yeasts and bacteria during fermentation creates a complex interplay of flavors and textures.

           3. Sustainability and Collaboration:

            Local Sourcing:

Many breweries are prioritizing locally sourced ingredients, reducing their environmental impact and supporting local farmers.

            Community Partnerships:

Collaborations between breweries, local businesses, and non-profit organizations are becoming increasingly common.

            Sustainable Practices:

From utilizing solar power to reducing water usage, many breweries are adopting sustainable practices to minimize their environmental footprint.

           4. Technology and Innovation:

            Precision Fermentation:

This technology allows brewers to precisely control the fermentation process, resulting in more consistent and higher-quality beers.

            Artificial Intelligence:

AI is being used to analyze data, predict trends, and even assist in the brewing process itself.

            Innovative Packaging:

From cans to kegs to crowlers, breweries are constantly exploring new and innovative packaging options.

The future of craft beer is bright, filled with exciting possibilities and endless creativity. As brewers continue to push boundaries and experiment with new techniques, we can expect to see even more exciting and innovative beers in the years to come.

One of the biggest reason Craft Beer is empowered to create new flavors is that for breweries that DO NOT DISTRIBUTE, there is more flexibility. Mid-sized to large breweries have submitted their recipes and labels to TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau) who regulate can labels and distribution to ensure compliancy and legality.

Not being tied to TTB (Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau) formulas can offer several benefits for beverage producers, particularly those seeking innovation and flexibility:

           Increased Creativity and Experimentation:

            Ingredient Freedom:

Producers can explore a wider range of ingredients, including novel additives, botanicals, and unique flavor combinations that may not fit within strict TTB guidelines. This opens doors to crafting truly distinctive and original beverages.

            Process Flexibility:

Breweries, wineries, and distilleries can experiment with unconventional production methods, such as alternative fermentation techniques, unique aging processes, or innovative filtration systems, without the constraints of adhering to specific TTB-approved procedures.

           Faster Time-to-Market:

            Reduced Regulatory Hurdles:

The TTB formula approval process can be time-consuming.

      <sup>

      </sup>

By avoiding this step, producers can significantly accelerate the development and launch of new products, gaining a competitive edge in a rapidly evolving market.

            Agility and Responsiveness:

This freedom allows producers to quickly adapt to changing consumer preferences, market trends, and seasonal demands by rapidly introducing new or modified products.

           Cost Savings:

            Reduced Regulatory Costs:

The TTB formula approval process involves fees and administrative costs. By circumventing this process, producers can save on these expenses.

            Streamlined Production:

Greater flexibility in production can lead to more efficient processes, potentially reducing overall production costs.

           Differentiation:

            Unique Selling Proposition:

Products crafted outside of traditional TTB frameworks can offer a distinct point of differentiation, attracting consumers who seek unique and innovative experiences.

            Premium Positioning:

The ability to create truly unique and high-quality beverages can allow producers to position their products as premium offerings, commanding higher price points.

In taprooms that hum, with laughter and cheer, Friends gather close, a craft beer held dear.

With each frosty mug, a story unfolds,

Of dreams and of passion, in glasses of gold.

So raise a glass high, to Snohomish's pride,

Where brewers with passion, in their craft confide.

A taste of the valley, the Cascade's embrace,

Quality in every sip, a delightful chase.

           Cheers Snohomish!

True to Style Craft Beer: Celebration of Tradition and Innovation

What does Craft Beer mean and why is it important?

           True to Style Craft Beer

In the world of craft beer, the term "true to style" holds a special significance. It represents a commitment to brewing beers that adhere to the historical guidelines and characteristics of established beer styles. This pursuit of authenticity is not merely an exercise in nostalgia; it is a testament to the deep respect that craft brewers have for the rich brewing heritage.

Embracing the Essence of Beer Styles

True to style craft beers embody the essence of their respective styles, showcasing the unique balance of flavors, aromas, and mouthfeel that define each category. From the crisp and refreshing lagers to the robust and hop-forward IPAs, each style has its own distinct character, shaped by centuries of brewing tradition.

Craft brewers who strive for true to style brewing meticulously select their ingredients, carefully control the brewing process, and adhere to the established parameters of each style. They seek to capture the essence of the style while incorporating their own creative flair, resulting in beers that are both authentic and innovative.

The Importance of True to Style

The pursuit of true to style brewing is not merely a matter of technical precision; it is a reflection of the deep respect that craft brewers have for the history and tradition of beer. By adhering to the established guidelines, they pay homage to the generations of brewers who have come before them.

Moreover, true to style brewing provides a framework for innovation. By thoroughly understanding the characteristics of a particular style, brewers are better equipped to experiment and push the boundaries within that style. This approach leads to the creation of new and exciting variations while maintaining the integrity of the style itself.

, a beautiful, amber colored beer with a thick head of foam, Night Sky Red Ale gets its name from the old sailing adage, “red sky at night, sailor’s delight.” This beer is nicely balanced with a robust malt character accented by wheat, munich, and dark crystal malts, and an evergreen hop presence. It is like drinking a sip of the Northwest. Sound2Summit Brewery is a 500+ barrel brewery located in Snohomish WA that prides itself in brewing beer that is true to style.

We have already been apprised of some significant increases. For example, minimum wage is increasing from $14.49 to $15.75. There are some other increases that most individuals are not privy to that we must absorb as well, such as Employment Security Department and LNI rates increasing and so forth.

How are we combating these increases?

Well, that is always the tough part. Our goal is to NEVER jeopardize the quality of the beer, so other considerations will be incorporated. Here are some of the things we are doing…

As some of you have already experienced when you renewed your Mug Club for 2023, fee was increased by $25.

We will be raising the price per pint by $0.50.

Wholesale beer prices to our restaurant partners will increase slightly

We are always looking at ways to reduce unnecessary costs – we have identified some items that will be implemented in 2023 and others are in negotiations.

I write this letter with some pride and trepidation. Must of you know that if you ask a question I will be transparent and honest in my response.

From all of the owners of Sound2Summit Brewery, we say Thank you for your understanding, business and continued love of our beer as we work through this challenging environment. Looking forward to a very fun 2023.

The coffee shop and taproom additions are bringing new life to this marquee corner at the south entrance of Waterfront Place. The site has sat vacant since relocation of the historic Weyerhaeuser Building to Boxcar Park in 2016.

Both businesses will have indoor and outdoor seating, including a courtyard for Sound 2 Summit that connects the buildings to create a new gathering hub just steps from Naval Station Everett and the Grand Avenue Park Bridge. The Woods Coffee drive-thru is also adding convenience for those that live, work and pass through the area.

We couldn’t be more thrilled to support their business expansions and welcome them to the neighborhood.”

I’m so excited to be a part of the Everett community.”

“The development that’s going on down here is just outstanding, and I’m so grateful for this partnership that we have with the Port and our Port Commissioners,” City of Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin said. “The Port has been continuously growing this beautiful waterfront and developing incredible amenities that our residents are excited about. Our waterfront has been a best-kept secret in Everett for far too long. There are so many people who don’t even know the beauty of the waterfront, and all these types of businesses and amenities are bringing them into our waterfront community, making Everett a destination for visitors. Together we’re positioning Everett, and our waterfront in particular, as a destination not to be missed in the Pacific Northwest.”

           What Is Craft Beer?

Craft beers are produced by small, independent breweries that prioritize quality, innovation, and traditional brewing methods. They're often brewed in smaller batches, which means that each batch has its own unique flavor. Some craft beers even use wild yeast instead of regular brewer's yeast, which gives them a distinctive taste.

           Here's a breakdown:

            Small & Independent:

Craft breweries are typically smaller than large, mass-producing breweries. They are often independently owned, allowing for more creativity and control over the brewing process.

            Focus on Quality:

Craft brewers emphasize using high-quality ingredients, such as locally sourced hops and malts. They often experiment with different brewing techniques and flavors.

            Innovation:

Craft beer is known for its variety and creativity. Brewers often push boundaries by creating unique and experimental beers with diverse flavor profiles.

            Traditional Methods:

While innovative, many craft brewers also embrace traditional brewing methods, often using time-honored techniques to create their beers.

           Key Differences from Mass-Produced Beer:

            Flavor:

Craft beers often have more complex and nuanced flavors compared to mass-produced beers, which tend to have a more uniform and often lighter taste.

            Ingredients:

Craft brewers often use higher-quality and more unique ingredients, while mass-produced beers may use less expensive or more readily available ingredients.

            Brewing Process:

Craft brewers typically have more control over the brewing process, allowing for greater attention to detail and experimentation.

In the early 1800s, beer was mostly consumed as an alcoholic beverage. It wasn't until the late 19th century that people started drinking beer for its nutritional value. By the 1920s, there were more than 1,000 breweries in America. Today, there are more than 9,100 breweries in the U.S., with California having the most with 931.

In Washington State, we can take our craft beer for granted. Did you know that Washington produced 73 percent of U.S. production of hops grown, with 98 percent of U.S. hops grown throughout the Northwest, according to the Hop Growers of America's 2024. Combine that with incredible water, and that is a winning combination for any beer lover.

Craft beer in Washington State can actually be traced to early hop farms that were first planted here over a hundred years ago. It's a story that involves an old transmission repair shop in a quiet Seattle neighborhood; a colorful Scotsman named Bert Grant from Yakima, and some visionaries that took a leap of faith. But mainly, it took adjustment to Washington State liquor laws stretching back to the Prohibition era being amended in the 1970's that cleared the path for local breweries to compete against the behemoth breweries such as Anheuser-Busch, Pabst, Schlitz, and Miller. Then all it took was for the word to get out that there were other options available to consumers. And in Washington State, the word is out.

Craft beer continues to take market share from the large macro-breweries, and with new breweries and creative brewers coming in to the industry, coupled with innovations in hops, grains, etc., the craft beer industry will continue to evolve and provide you with new tastes and experiences.

It doesn't matter if your event is a birthday party, old friends getting together or a wedding rehearsal dinner, you want your event to be perfect. We get that.

On a weekly basis we get quite a few requests to hold private events in our banquet room. Probably the first question I always get is what can the room hold. My answer is...

During the colder times of the year, the room can comfortably accommodate up to 25 people.

During the warmer months, we open up the garage doors and have comfortably held 60+ people.

The other questions that frequently crop up are:

Is there a fee to rent the room? Answer: For Mug Club members, there is no charge. For non-Mug Club members there is a $50 charge that is waived with $200 in beer or wine charges.

What can you do for food? Answer: We can coordinate with the organizer to make sure the food is handled. And this can take on many different styles.

Everyone orders what they want off the menu when/if they are hungry. Food may come out a little more staggered depending up the submission, especially for larger groups as our kitchen does have some constraints.

Limited menu / preordering: We have facilitated several events where the organizer sent out the menu beforehand and allowed their guests to choose what they want. We can then prep and deliver the food all at one time.

Cafeteria or family style: Probably our most popular way is for the organizer to speak with our brewery banquet coordinator and preselect dishes that are then brought out and people walk thru and select what they want. The menu can be pretty broad with appetizers to start with as your guests arrived to tasty main courses. Options include salads, sliders, taco bars, chicken/beef skewers and many more.

Can my guests be on separate tabs? Answer: yes, we can either handle one large tab or if you elect, we can put each of your guests on their own tab that they settle at the end of evening.

The most important aspect customer service. Depending upon the size of each event, we allocate friendly and dedicated staff to make sure you and your guests are well taken care of.

Introducing the S2S Hard Seltzer Experience

Stretching the boundaries, S2S is bringing seltzers that are low calorie, gluten free and very refreshing as an alternative to beer.

The expanding beverage world - Hard Seltzers

As a little background, as most of you know I was and currently am a homebrewer. Some of the new beers we have at the brewery are recipes that were formed in a garage and then brought into commercial application. And I love beer. Doesn't matter the style, as long as it is well-crafted and on style guidelines - beer is my "go-to" beverage of choice.

However, that is not the choice for everyone. Some people enjoy wine, spirits and some prefer coffee and tea. Everyone is different. That is why when you venture into S2S, you see a wide variety of beer choices - something hopefully to please every palette. But, we cannot ignore the growing popularity of seltzers.

As we get through some of the dark and cold days of winter here in the Great Pacific Northwest, we will continue to test new flavors and perfect our process so that everyone will have an option to enjoy.

Named after my goddaughter, the Miss Britt is an amazing seltzer that is light and charismatic - much like the person it is named after. Come in, give it a try and then provide your feedback. We will continue to innovate and bring new concepts. If you quit innovating, you quit growing - and S2S ain't no quitter.

Adam is back at it, walking you through the development of one of our most popular beers, the "Night Sky Red Ale."

A beautiful, amber colored beer with a thick head of foam, Night Sky Red Ale gets its name from the old sailing adage, “red sky at night, sailor’s delight.” This beer is nicely balanced with a robust malt character accented by wheat, munich, and dark crystal malts, and an evergreen hop presence. It is like drinking a sip of the Northwest.
